It opens the door at the center of the camp.
A copper-coloured key.
If you chose to take the left-hand path after surviving the siege of the abandoned house, you need to use this key in the large pit inside the camp to unlock the gate. Once open you can access the southern half of the camp and make your way to the gondola area.
