Activating the laboratory elevator (Resident Evil)
Once you gain access to the secure area of the laboratory by using the laboratory power room key, you will find an elevator at the northern end of the corridor. Trying to use it will result in the following message:
There’s no reaction. It has no power.
You need to find a way to restore its power before you can use it and progress with the game.
How to solve
The answer lies in the aptly named power maze area of the laboratory. This area consists of three locations; power maze 1, power maze 2 and the power room. The deafening whirring of machinery along with the pressure valves expanding and hissing, coupled with the low light levels and the hideous lab monsters crawling around, certainly makes this a difficult place to navigate. However, the areas you need to visit are quite straightforward, and there are only two actions needed in this particular area.
The first action is located power maze 1. There is a terminal in the south west corner. Accessing this terminal will ask you if you wish to restore power to the blacked-out areas. Answer “Yes” this to question.
The second action is performed in the power room. There is another terminal on the east side of the room. Accessing this terminal will state that there is a power connection switch and elevator power is currently off.
It will then ask you if you wish to connect it. Answer “Yes” to this question, and you’ll then be presented with the following success message:
The power for the elevator is activated as the power supply and the circuit have been connected.
If you now return to the elevator in the elevator corridor and examine the right side of it, there is a switch that you can now press to activate the elevator and use it to access the B4 level of the laboratory.
