This is a print-out of the email you supposedly received from Mia.

Examining this item will add the Email from Mia file to your inventory.


Mia's driver's license. It's covered in a strange, black substance.

Driver's License

A scorched driver's license that belonged to Mia. This item serves no purpose.


A tape used for recording. Put inside a tape recorder to use it.

Cassette Tape

An ordinary looking cassette tape.

These tapes are exclusive to the Madhouse difficulty mode. When playing through the game on Madhouse, you will find you can no longer save your game using a Tape Recorder without using one of these items. Since there are a finite number of these in the game, this limits the number of times you can save your progress.


A tool for opening simple locks. Breaks easily.

Lock Pick

A picking tool capable of unlocking simple locks. The tool is fragile and can only unlock a single lock before breaking.

In Easy and Normal mode, you can use a lock pick in the following locations:
  • The draw of the blue cabinet in the Guest House's Kitchen.
  • The draw of the cabinet in the south west corner of the Main House's Main Corridor.
  • The box on the table in the Main House's Small Workshop.
  • The desk draw in the Main House's Study.
  • The box on the metal shelves in the Main House's Balcony.
  • The desk draw in the Old House's Dining Room.
  • The draw of the small white unit in the Old House's Potting Room.
  • The toolbox in the Wrecked Ship's Control Room.

In Madhouse mode, you can use the lock pick in the following locations:
  • The draw of the blue cabinet in the Guest House's Kitchen.
  • The toolbox on the workbench in the Main House's Garage.
  • The chest on the table in the Processing Area's Meat Storage.
  • The chest in the south east corner of the Old House's Walkway.
  • The chest on the table in the Old House's Potting Room.
  • The toolbox in the Testing Area's Barn Office.
  • The toolbox in the Boat House's Shed.
  • The toolbox inside the Salt Mine's Cultivation Room.


An old, commemorative coin.

Antique Coin

A small bronze coin that appears to be very old.

There are quite a number of these scattered throughout the game. Their use becomes apparent once you discover birdcages. These birdcages will contain useful items inside, but they can only be unlocked by providing each with a certain number of these coins.


A tool for cutting chains.

Bolt Cutters

A pair of strong bolt cutters.

You can use these to cut through chains. They can be used in the following places:
  • On the locked cell door in the Guard's Area of the Guest House basement.
  • On the chained-up wardrobe in the Guest House's Back Corridor.

"Derelict House Footage"

An old VHS tape containing handheld camera footage.

This particular tape contains footage from the Sewer Gators Production Team as they explore the Guest House in hopes of making a documentary. The recording is from the perspective of Clancy, the Sewer Gators cameraman.


Use in a fuse box to restore power.

Fuse

A fuse designed for a fuse box.

This is needed to restore power to the stair mechanism of the upstairs area of the Guest House. Once power has been restored, you can use the switch on the support to lower the staircase, allowing access to the 3F.


Your left hand, cut off by Mia. It's still warm.

Hand

The hand belonging to Ethan after Mia chopped it off with a chainsaw. It serves no purpose.


A key for opening the hatch in the pantry.

Hatch Key

A small key with a plastic handle.

This key is used to unlock the hatch in the corner of the Main House's Pantry, giving you access to the crawl space underneath.


Your dismembered leg. Maybe it can be reattached.

Leg

The leg belonging to Ethan after it has been chopped off.

You must reattach it with Strong First Aid Med before you die from blood loss.


A box from Zoe. It contains something to help you along the way.

Supply Box

This supply box is a gift from Zoe. You will only receive this box if you pre-ordered the game. If you qualify for this item, you will find it inside the Item Box.

Examining this box will reveal that it contains a set of helpful items, these being as follows:


The key to your car. You must have dropped it when you were attacked in the attic.

Car Key

The key to Ethan's car.

Using this on the car in the Garage will start it, allowing you to knock down Jack.


A metal statuette that looks like a headless ox.

Ox Statuette

An ornate statue in the shape of an ox.

This is used in the indentation of the door at the end of the Main House's Main Corridor in order to access the Main Hall.


A pendulum taken from a clock. The word "Living room" is written on it.

Clock Pendulum

A pendulum belonging to a large grandfather clock.

You can use this on the grandfather clock in the Living Room of the Main House to reveal a hidden item.


A strangely-shaped sculpture made out of wood.

Wooden Statuette

A bizarre misshaped structure made of wood.

This is used to solve the Light Projector Plinth puzzle in the Main House's Main Hall in order to reveal the Hidden Passage.

Blue Dog's Head

An ornate emblem in the shape of the dog's head.

This is used on conjunction with the Red Dog's Head and the White Dog's Head on the front door of the Main House's Main Hall in order to unlock it.

White Dog's Head

An ornate emblem in the shape of the dog's head.

This is used on conjunction with the Blue Dog's Head] and the Red Dog's Head on the front door of the Main House's Main Hall in order to unlock it.

Red Dog's Head

An ornate emblem in the shape of the dog's head.

This is used on conjunction with the Blue Dog's Head] and the White Dog's Head on the front door of the Main House's Main Hall in order to unlock it.

A key on a large metal ring with a metal tag attached.

This key is used to unlock the door to the Dissection Room within the Processing Area.

A large key-like object with a scorpion attached to it.

This key opens the following doors in the Main House:

Treasure Photo (Fireplace)

A photograph showing a fireplace.

This photo reveals the location of a hidden item. Once you have examined this specific photo you can find the hidden item in the Main House's Drawing Room.

An old VHS tape containing handheld camera footage.

This particular tape contains footage from the perspective if Mia as she attempts to evade Marguerite and escape the Old House.


It looks like it can be combined with something else.

Burner Grip

A homemade handle for what appears to be a makeshift flamethrower.

This is one of two parts. Combine this with the Burner Nozzle to create the Burner.

Crank

A large crank used for operating large machinery.

This crank can be used on the gear mechanism located in the following locations to reveal a hidden walkway:

Crow Key

A large key-like object with a dead crow attached to it.

This key opens the following doors:


"I hid something nice here. Try to find it if you can!"

Treasure Photo (Toilet)

A photograph showing a toilet.

This photo reveals the location of a hidden item. Once you have examined this specific photo you can find the hidden item in Zoe's Trailer.


Merguerite's lantern. It seems she used its light to control the insects.

Lantern

A large glass lantern.

This is needed to unlock the door in the Altar of the Old House.


A large storage battery.

Battery

A large battery used for powering large and heavy equipment.

This battery is used in the control panel located on the east side of the Barn within the Testing Area.


"D-002" is written on the label. It's hard to imagine how this could be used for anything.

D-Series Arm

The mummified arm of an old bio-weapon dubbed the D-Type.

This is one of the components needed to create the Serum. This along with the D-Series Head must be given to Zoe so she can synthesise the cure.

This key opens the following doors in the Main House:

Treasure Photo (Dummy Head)

This photo reveals the location of a hidden item. Once you have examined this specific photo you can find the hidden item in the Testing Area's Supply Room.

"Happy Birthday"

An old VHS tape containing handheld camera footage.

This particular tape contains footage from the survivor of the Sewer Gators team as he is forced to complete the "Happy Birthday" test put in place by Lucas. This tape allows you to foresee the puzzle that lays ahead so you do not receive the same fate.


A toy axe. It's just a child's plaything, so it can't be used as a weapon.

Toy Axe

A wooden axe. It is neither sharp enough not durable enough to be used as a weapon.

This item is what must be used to solve the shadow plinth puzzle in the Courtyard in order to unlock the nearby large white chest.


A wooden model of a shotgun. Can't be used as a weapon.

Model Shotgun

A finely made wooden model of a shotgun.

This model is the same size and weight of a real shotgun. You can use this to swap it out for the real shotgun on the statue in the Display Room of the Main House.


A computer expansion card that has been repurposed to act as a key to open a door. The label is blue.

Keycard (Blue)

A makeshift keycard made out of computer components.

This is one of two keycards required to access the Testing Area. Use this along with the Keycard (Red) on the electronically locked gate in the Courtyard.

This is one of two keycards required to access the Testing Area. Use this along with the Keycard (Blue) on the electronically locked gate in the Courtyard.


It looks well-used.

Candle

An ordinary wax candle.

This is the primary puzzle item of the "Happy Birthday" test concocted by Lucas. The aim of the test is to place this candle on the cake located inside the Cake Room. However, you also use this candle to burn the rope that's keeping the door to the Balloon Room closed, and also to set fire to Straw Doll to reveal a hidden item.


It seems to have been fitted with a polarizing filter. The dirt on it makes it hard to see through.

Dirty Telescope

A small telescope covered in vile substance.

This is one of the puzzle items of the "Happy Birthday" test concocted by Lucas. However, you need clean the telescope before you can see through it. In order to do this, you need to stand in the space between the Party Room and the Cake Room that triggers the automatic shower mechanism and equip the telescope to allow the water to clean the lens. Once it is clean it becomes the Telescope.


It seems to have been fitted with a polarizing filter.

Telescope

A small telescope with limited range.

This item, which was dirty when you first acquired it, will help you solve Lucas's "Happy Birthday" test. If you "use" this item and look at the wall of monitors in the Party Room, you will notice that hidden symbols appear. These symbols form the combination for the picture padlock located in the Cake Room.

Winding Key

A large bronze key used for winding clockwork contraptions.

This is one of the puzzle items of the "Happy Birthday" test concocted by Lucas. It is the key that can activate the dummy sitting in the Dummy Room. However, the dummy will not operate correctly until you reattach its finger and place the Quill Pen into its hand.

Balloon

An ordinary uninflated yellow balloon.

This is one of the puzzle items of the "Happy Birthday" test concocted by Lucas. This can be used on the gas outlet in the Party Room in order to acquire the Quill Pen.


The feather seems to be a cheap replica.

Quill Pen

A cheap replica of an expensive quill pen.

This is one of the puzzle items of the "Happy Birthday" test concocted by Lucas. This pen belongs to the clockwork dummy sitting in the Dummy Room of the Testing Area. It can only be held by the dummy after it has had its missing Dummy Finger reattached.


The doll is hard to the touch.

Straw Doll

A crudely-built voodoo-style doll made by Lucas.

This is one of the puzzle items of the "Happy Birthday" test concocted by Lucas. You need to burn this using the gas hob in the Party Room to reveal the Dummy Finger.

Dummy Finger

A finger belonging to a mechanical dummy.

This is one of the puzzle items of the "Happy Birthday" test concocted by Lucas. This finger belongs to the clockwork puppet sitting at the desk in the Dummy Room of the Testing Area. You can reattach it by examining the the dummy's hand.


A handle that can be attached to piping and used to shut something on or off.

Valve Handle

A large circular handle designed for opening and closing valves.

This is one of the puzzle items of the "Happy Birthday" test concocted by Lucas. This is the most important item in the entire test as it allows you to close the water valve for the shower. Once closed, you can then proceed to place the lit Candle on the cake in the Cake Room and complete the test.


"D-005" is written on the label. It's hard to imagine how this could be used for anything.

D-Series Head

The mummified arm of an old bio-weapon dubbed the D-Type.

This is one of the components needed to create the Serum. This along with the D-Series Arm must be given to Zoe so she can synthesise the cure.


Powerful medicine that cleanses the body. Made from two ingredients from a D-Series test subject.

Serum

This serum contains the necessary antibodies to fight the infection that Eveline spreads. You receive two vials from Zoe, which are used in the following places:

  • The first must be used to permanently defeat Jack when he attacks the Boat House.
  • The second can be used on either Mia or Zoe, the choice of which decides which ending you receive when you complete the game.


A strange bottle that you found in your pocket after waking up at the Baker estate. It's probably important.

Strange Bottle

A bottle containing an unknown substance. You find this mysterious bottle in your possession when you take control of Mia.

You will eventually be told that this bottle contains the tissue samples of Eveline, which is needed to create the toxin that is capable of defeating her.


A standard fuse that can be used for various purposes. Can be replaced.

General Purpose Fuse

A fuse for use with high-power machinery.

This is initially used to restore power to the door locking mechanism in the Main Corridor of the wrecked ship in order to gain entry to the Stairwell.

Later on you discover that this is also one of the components needed to restore power to the Elevator in the wrecked ship. It must be used, along with the Power Cable, on the exposed wall panel inside the elevator.

Old Videotape

An old VHS videotape covered in mold.

This is the final videotape of the main story, and reveals the secrets of Mia's past.


A small bottle containing tissue samples from Eveline.

Eveline Tissue Samples

A small bottle containing the tissue samples of the E-Type bioweapon nicknamed Eveline.

This must be used to synthesise the toxin that can defeat Eveline. Use this bottle on the sample box in the Salt Mine's Storage Space to create the E-Necrotoxin.


A strong acid that can dissolve certain metals.

Corrosive

A highly corrosive acid in a squeezable bottle. This acid can dissolve metal locks, and can be used in the following locations:

A 4-way lug wrench. Useful for removing nuts.

Lug Wrench

A large wrench used for removing lug nuts.

This is used on the access panel on the roof of the Wrecked Ship's Elevator, allowing you to access the inside of the elevator in order to repair it.


A key to open the weapon locker in the captain's cabin.

Captain's Cabin Locker Key

A large key with a large metal tag.

This key is used in the Captain's Cabin of the Wrecked Ship. It unlocks the captain's locker in the corner of the room.


An old power cable. Looks to still have all its connections intact.

Power Cable

A power cable designed to be used with high-power machinery.

This is one of the components needed to restore power to the Elevator in the wrecked ship. It must be used, along with the Power Cable, on the exposed wall panel inside the elevator.


A special serum for disposing of E-Series test subjects. It coul destroy Eveline if injected into her.

E-Necrotoxin

A syringe containing a green substance.

This is the toxin that can ultimately defeat Eveline.

Consumables

A plant containing nutrients that help to heal wounds. Consume to recover a small amount of health.

Herb

A herb that can be found growing naturally in the Louisiana area.

Using this will restore a very small portion of your overall health.


Closes up wounds and promotes cell regeneration. Partially restores health.

First Aid Med

A bottle of first aid medication.

Using this will restore a small portion of your overall health.


Strong recovery medicine. Completely restores health.

Strong First Aid Med

A bottle of extra-strength first aid medication.

Using this will completely restore your overall health.


Medicine that temporarily sharpens the senses, making item detection easier.

Psychostimulants

A tin of small yellow tablets.

Consuming these will heighten your character's ability to find nearby items. When under the influence of these pills, items that can be picked up will appear as dots in your field of vision. The effects of these pills only lasts a couple of minutes.


Pills that affect the nervous system. Can't be used as is: make them into medicine first.

Supplements

A tin of small white tablets.

This item cannot be used on its own. However, it can be used in the following combinations of other ingredients to create new items:


Relaxes the muscles and reduces stress, making reloading faster. Effect lasts indefinitely.

Stabilizer

A special syringe containing a blue liquid.

This contains a potent solution that will permanently increase the speed in which Ethan reloads his weapons.


Dramatically strengthens muscles and increases max health. Effect lasts indefinitely.

Steroids

A special syringe containing a red liquid.

This contains a potent solution that will permanently increase Ethan's maximum health.


A liquid that can be combined to make items. Can't be used as is.

Chem Fluid

A bag of yellow liquid.

This item cannot be used on its own. However, it can be used in the following combinations of other ingredients to create new items:


Can be combined with other items to change their properties. Stronger than normal Chem Fluid.

Strong Chem Fluid

A bag of red liquid.

This item cannot be used on its own. However, it can be used in the following combinations of other ingredients to create new items:


Can be combined with some items to separate the Chem Fluid from them into a usable item.

Separating Agent

A bag of blue liquid.

It is an agent that is capable of extracting either Chem Fluid or Strong Chem Fluid from other items. As such, this item cannot be used on its own, but combining it with one of the following items will yield the respective result:

Gunpowder that can be packed into bullets. Combine with Chem Fluid to create Handgun Ammo.

Gunpowder

A small quantity of loose gunpowder.

This is the primary ingredient for ammunition, but it cannot be used on its own. Instead it must be combined with something to create the following results:


A flammable solid that burns fiercely when ignited. Can't be used as is.

Solid Fuel

A block of flammable material.

This is primarily used for creating highly-combustible weaponry. It cannot be used on its own, but instead combined with something to create the following results:

Special items

These coins are said to have special effects on those who carry them. This one makes you feel stronger.

Assault Coin

A small golden coin.

Having this inside your inventory will partially increase any damage you deal towards enemies.


These coins are said to have special effects on those who carry them. This one was made to toughen your body.

Defense Coin

A small golden coin that came from the Supply Box.

Having this inside your inventory will partially reduce any damage you receive off enemies.


These coins are said to have special effects on those who carry them. This one makes your body feel tougher.

Iron Defense Coin

A small silver coin.

Having this inside your inventory will reduce any damage you receive off enemies. It is similar to the Defense Coin except more effective at reducing received damage.


Reduces damage when guarding. Effects are maximised when paired with "The Essense of Defense."

The Secrets of Defense

An old scroll with mystical teachings inscribed. This is a special item that is awarded to you for completing the game on the Normal difficulty setting. You will find this item inside an Item Box after unlocking it.

When you have this item in your inventory, your character's blocking effectiveness will be increased. You will receive less damage than usually when you get struck by an enemy whilst you are blocking.


Reduces damage when guarding. Effects are maximized when paired with "The Secrets of Defense."

The Essence of Defense

An old scroll with mystical teachings inscribed. This is a special item that is awarded to you for finding and destroying all of the Mr Everywhere statuettes located throughout the game. You will find this item inside an Item Box after unlocking it.

This item is very similar to The Secrets of Defense, in that when you have this item in your inventory, your character's blocking effectiveness will be increased. You will receive less damage than usually when you get struck by an enemy whilst you are blocking. It works even better if you pair this item with The Secrets of Defense.


Light shoes to make walking more comfortable. Increases walking speed, but running speed stays the same.

Walking Shoes

An ordinary pair of comfortable walking shoes. These are a special item that are awarded to you for completing the game in under 4 hours on any difficulty. You will find this item inside an Item Box after unlocking it.

Having these inside your inventory will increase your walking speed, making it easier to evade and out-walk enemies.


Improves your vision so you can see where items are located.

X-Ray Glasses

A pair of what appear to be ordinary sunglasses. These are a special item that are awarded to you for completing the game in under 4 hours on any difficulty. You will find this item inside an Item Box after unlocking it.

When you have them in your inventory, items in the nearby vicinity will become visible via a small overlay marker symbol. This makes hidden items much easier to find, especially those elusive Antique Coins. The marker also appears for the locations of the Mr Everywhere statuettes.
